What is a cookie?
Cookies are small text files saved in your browser when you visit a website. By reading them, the site can remember a preference or make sure an action is completed securely. Similar technologies are the browser’s local storage (localStorage) and the reading of browser signals for security verification.
- First-party cookies are set by the site you visit; third-party cookies are set by another company whose content or service is used on the site.
- Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain in your browser until they expire or you delete them.
Information obtained through cookies and similar technologies (IP address, browser and device information, preference records) is personal data subject to the KVKK where, alone or combined with other information, it makes you identifiable.
Cookies and similar technologies we use
The cookies and similar technologies used on the Site are listed in the table below. The categories mean the following:
- Strictly necessary: required for the Site to work, for its security or to provide a function you have requested. They do not depend on your explicit consent and cannot be switched off in the cookie banner.
- External content (consent-based): content from a provider other than the Company, loaded only with your explicit consent. On the Site, this category contains only Google Maps.
| Name | Provider | Category | Purpose | Retention period |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| pll_language (cookie) | Bravus Marine (first party, Polylang plugin) | Strictly necessary | Remembers the site language you chose (Turkish or English) and shows pages in that language. It contains only the language code. | 1 year |
| Cookie preference record: bm-cookie-consent (browser local storage) | Bravus Marine (first party) | Strictly necessary | Stores the choice you made in the cookie banner and runs the Site according to that choice. Because your choice is saved, the banner is not shown again on every page. | 12 months; after that you are asked again. Deleted earlier if you delete your browser data. |
| Cloudflare Turnstile (security verification) | Cloudflare, Inc. (third party) | Strictly necessary (security) | Prevents the contact and quote form from being misused by automated programs (bots) and from being used to send unsolicited messages (spam). For this purpose, the IP address, browser and device information and browser signals are evaluated. | Used during form verification. Retention periods for data Cloudflare keeps in your browser or in its own systems are set by Cloudflare: Turnstile privacy addendum, Cloudflare Cookie Policy. |
| WordPress administration session cookies: wordpress_logged_in_*, wordpress_sec_*, wordpress_test_cookie, wp-settings-* | Bravus Marine (first party, WordPress) | Strictly necessary (Site administrators only) | Authenticate the session of authorised persons who log in to the administration panel and keep that session secure. They are not set in the browsers of visitors who do not log in to the administration panel. | For the session; 14 days if “Remember me” is selected; wp-settings-* cookies 1 year |
| Google Maps cookies | Google LLC / Google Ireland Limited (third party) | External content (consent-based) | Show our location on a map in the contact section. The map loads only after your explicit consent. | Set by Google: How Google uses cookies |
Cookies we do not use
The Site does not use analytics (visitor statistics), advertising, marketing or social media tracking cookies, and no newsletter service is offered through the Site. If it is decided in future to use such a technology, this policy will be updated in advance and the technology will run only after your explicit consent has been obtained.
Server access logs kept by the hosting provider for security purposes are not cookies. Information on these logs is provided in the Privacy Notice (KVKK Aydınlatma Metni).
How does Google Maps work?
The map in the contact section does not load automatically when the page opens; a placeholder is shown in its place. The map loads only if you click “Accept all” in the cookie banner, switch on “External content (Google Maps)” under “Preferences”, or click “Show map” on the placeholder. Each of these three actions means that you give explicit consent to the map being loaded and to your data being transferred to Google as described below. Your choice is saved in the cookie preference record, so the map also loads on later visits; you can change it through the “Cookie preferences” link in the footer.
When the map loads, your browser connects directly to Google’s servers. Your IP address and browser and device information are sent to Google; Google may set its own cookies in your browser or read cookies it set earlier. If you are signed in to your Google account, Google may link this information to your account. Google processes this data under its own Privacy Policy; the names and durations of the cookies it uses are set, and may be changed, by Google.
Purposes, legal bases and method of collection
The data below is collected by automated means through your browser when you visit the Site, via cookies, the browser’s local storage, and the Cloudflare Turnstile and Google Maps components running on the Site. The purpose of each technology and the legal basis it relies on are matched below.
| Technology | Purpose of processing | Data processed | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| pll_language | Presenting the Site in the language you chose | Language preference (tr or en) | KVKK Art. 5(2)(f): processing is necessary for our legitimate interest in presenting the Site in the language you chose, provided it does not harm your fundamental rights and freedoms |
| Cookie preference record | Recording whether you gave explicit consent, respecting your choice and being able to demonstrate it when needed | Cookie preference (accept, reject or category selection) | KVKK Art. 5(2)(ç): processing is necessary for the data controller to comply with its legal obligation (not running consent-based content without your consent, as required by KVKK Art. 5(1)) |
| Cloudflare Turnstile | Protecting the contact and quote form against bots and spam, and keeping the Site secure | Transaction security data: IP address, browser and device information, browser signals | KVKK Art. 5(2)(f): our legitimate interest in protecting the Site and the requests sent through the form against misuse |
| WordPress administration session cookies | Ensuring that only authorised persons access the administration panel and keeping the session secure | Session authentication data of the authorised user | KVKK Art. 5(2)(f): our legitimate interest in the security of Site administration |
| Google Maps | Showing our location on a map | IP address, browser and device information, information processed through Google cookies | KVKK Art. 5(1): explicit consent. For the transfer abroad, KVKK Art. 9(6)(a): explicit consent given after being informed of the possible risks (see “Transfers abroad” below) |
Retention period
Cookies and browser records are kept in your browser for the period stated for each of them in the table above, and are removed when that period ends or when you delete them. Retention periods for data that Cloudflare and Google keep in their own systems are set by those companies. The retention period for server access logs is stated in the Privacy Notice (KVKK Aydınlatma Metni).
Recipient groups to whom data is transferred
- Security verification service provider (Cloudflare, Inc.): to carry out the Turnstile security verification on the contact and quote form.
- Map service provider (Google LLC / Google Ireland Limited): only with your explicit consent, to provide the map service. This data is sent directly from your browser to Google and is processed by Google under its own privacy policy.
The language preference and the cookie preference record are used only in your browser and on the servers that deliver the Site, in order to provide the Site to you; apart from the above, they are not transferred to third parties. Information on the Site’s hosting provider is provided in the Privacy Notice (KVKK Aydınlatma Metni).
Transfers abroad
Cloudflare, Inc. and Google LLC / Google Ireland Limited are established outside Türkiye, and data processed in connection with these services may be processed on servers outside Türkiye. Your personal data is transferred abroad only in accordance with the conditions laid down in KVKK Article 9.
- Cloudflare Turnstile: To the extent there is no adequacy decision of the Personal Data Protection Board for the country to which the data is transferred, the Company bases this transfer on the standard contract announced by the Board under KVKK Art. 9(4)(c). Under KVKK Art. 9(5), the standard contract is notified to the Personal Data Protection Authority within five business days of its signature. Turnstile is not used until this safeguard is in place.
- Google Maps: The map loads only at your request and with your explicit consent; your IP address and browser information go directly to Google without passing through us. Because the transfer depends on your own decision and is not part of our business processes, we consider it incidental. To the extent there is no adequacy decision and none of the appropriate safeguards listed in KVKK Art. 9(4) is in place, this transfer relies, under KVKK Art. 9(6)(a), on the explicit consent you give after being informed of the possible risks below.
Possible risks: the country to which the data is transferred may not offer a level of protection equivalent to the KVKK; public authorities of that country may access the data under their own laws; exercising your KVKK rights against a foreign provider and seeking effective legal remedies may be more difficult than in Türkiye.
Explicit consent and managing your cookie preferences
Explicit consent
- Your explicit consent is not requested for strictly necessary cookies and similar technologies; they rely on the legal bases stated above.
- The “External content (Google Maps)” category runs only with your explicit consent. This option is not pre-selected; the map does not load until you give consent, and it does not load if you choose “Reject”.
- You are not obliged to give explicit consent. Not giving consent does not prevent you from using the rest of the Site, sending the contact form or reaching us by phone or e-mail. You can see our address in the “Data controller” section without loading the map.
- You can withdraw your explicit consent at any time, as easily as you gave it, via the “Cookie preferences” link in the footer of every page. Withdrawal has effect for the future.
Cookie banner
On your first visit, the banner offers three options; “Accept all” and “Reject” have equal prominence:
- “Accept all”: in addition to the strictly necessary technologies, you give explicit consent to the “External content (Google Maps)” category.
- “Reject”: only strictly necessary technologies run and the map does not load. Rejecting is as easy as accepting and takes one click.
- “Preferences”: you can switch the “External content (Google Maps)” category on or off separately. This option is off by default.
“Cookie preferences” link in the footer
The “Cookie preferences” link in the footer of every page reopens the banner. There you can change your preference or withdraw your explicit consent at any time. Once you withdraw consent, the map no longer loads. Cookies that Google previously set in your browser belong to Google’s domain and cannot be deleted by the Company; you can delete them in your browser settings.
Browser settings
You can view, delete or block cookies and site data in your browser settings. Help pages for common browsers:
If you block cookies or site data completely, your language preference may not be remembered and some Site functions may not work as expected. If you delete your browser data, your cookie preference is also deleted and the banner is shown again on your next visit.
Your rights
Under KVKK Article 11, you have the right to apply to the Company to:
- learn whether your personal data is processed,
- request information if your personal data has been processed,
- learn the purpose of processing and whether the data is used in line with that purpose,
- know the third parties in Türkiye or abroad to whom your personal data is transferred,
- request correction if your personal data is incomplete or inaccurate,
- request erasure or destruction of your personal data under the conditions set out in KVKK Article 7,
- request that correction, erasure or destruction be notified to third parties to whom your personal data has been transferred,
- object to a result against you arising from analysis of the processed data exclusively by automated systems,
- claim compensation if you suffer damage due to unlawful processing of your personal data.
How to apply
You may submit your application, in line with the Communiqué on the Procedures and Principles of Application to the Data Controller, by one of the following methods:
- in writing with a wet signature, to our address in the “Data controller” section,
- by sending your application signed with a secure electronic signature or mobile signature to info@bravusmarine.com,
- from the e-mail address you previously notified to the Company and that is registered in our system, to info@bravusmarine.com.
Your application must include your name and surname, your signature if the application is in writing, your Turkish ID number (for foreign nationals: nationality and passport number, or ID number if any), your residential or business address for notifications, your e-mail address, telephone and fax number for notifications if any, and the subject of your request; you may attach information and documents relating to your request.
Your application will be concluded free of charge as soon as possible according to the nature of the request, and within thirty days at the latest. If the action requires an additional cost, the fee in the tariff set by the Personal Data Protection Board may be charged. If your application is rejected, you find the response insufficient, or no response is given in time, you may file a complaint with the Personal Data Protection Board under KVKK Article 14 within thirty days of learning of the response and, in any event, within sixty days of the application date.
Changes to this policy
When the cookies or similar technologies used on the Site change, this policy is updated and the current version is published on this page. If a new consent-based category is added, your preference will be asked again through the cookie banner.
